Using attributes reported by hard drives via S.M.A.R.T (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) attributes, HDD Health takes that information and compiles that in an easy-to-read view. It also correctly shows Windows Dynamic Disks (made via Logical Disk Manager) as their spanned/striped/mirrored drives. Also reports temperature as reported, and can play a sound or pop-up if temperature exceeds a preset. While still officially a "beta", version 3 beta is a lot better than its stable version 2 predecessor, and is recommended if you are looking for a free applet to monitor the health of your hard drives.

Considering it is a beta it is still much better than the old version. It also no longer displays a predicted date that your drive will fail, which is somewhat grim, even if it is years away.
