If your organization is concerned about protecting against data loss by mobile workers, or if you have a lot of sensitive data that conventional security on an operating system may not be sufficient, then TrueCrypt may the solution for you. TrueCrypt can create a file whose data is encrypted, and that "file container" can be used like a virtual hard drive to store encrypted data. It can also be used on portable USB drives as well. It has a graphical user interface which makes the process fairly easy even for the intermediate tech user who doesn't want to deal with command line interfaces or the intricacies of cryptography
